Choquequirao to Machu Picchu 8 days: the complete guide
This is an expedition, not a holiday hike — and that is the point. Over eight days you walk from the lost citadel of Choquequirao all the way to Machu Picchu, crossing high passes and cloud forest that almost no other travelers ever see. It is the most complete trek we offer.
Two lost cities, one trek
Few journeys link two of the Inca world’s greatest sites on foot. You begin at remote Choquequirao, cross the wild country between the Apurímac and Vilcanota watersheds, then arrive at Machu Picchu — earning both in a way almost no one does.
The shape of the route
The eight-day version crosses high passes around 4,400 m, descends through Yanama and the cloud forest of La Playa, climbs to Llactapata for its famous distant view of Machu Picchu, and finishes with the guided tour of the citadel itself.
