Experience a once-in-a-lifetime Palcoyo Mountain Tour, situated at an astounding 4,900 meters above sea level in the Andes mountain range. The adventure begins in the city of Cusco with a pick-up at 4:00 AM, followed by a 3-hour bus ride through picturesque Andean landscapes until reaching the town of Palccoyo (3,900 m), where a traditional Andean breakfast is served.
Following breakfast, we take a bus for about an hour to get to the 4,800-meter-high starting point of the hike. We then start a leisurely one-hour climb toward the viewpoint (4,900 m), where we can take in breathtaking views of the Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain, which is distinguished by its striking geological formations and distinctive mineral colors.
You can take in the breathtaking Andean landscape, snow-capped peaks, and colorful ridges that surround the location from the viewpoint. We start a one-hour descent back to the hike’s starting point after snapping photos and admiring the scenery.
We then board the bus and drive to a local restaurant to enjoy a traditional Andean lunch before starting our return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 4:00 PM.
The hike is between 4,800 and 4,900 meters, and some hikers may experience mild altitude symptoms like soroche (headache or shortness of breath). Throughout the Palcoyo Mountain Tour, oxygen is supplied for your comfort and security.
