Get ready for a moderate climb on your second day of trekking after a nice breakfast. The famous Salkantay Pass is the highest point of the trek, at 4,650 meters (15,367 feet). You will get there after two hours of hiking from Soraypampa (3,850 m / 12,631 ft). Here, you'll be able to see Salkantay Mountain (6,271 m / 20,574 ft) in all its glory, surrounded by the area's natural beauty. You can see the snow-covered peaks of Salkantay, Humantay Mountain (5,917 m / 19,411 ft), and Huayanay (5,220 m / 17,125 ft). The rivers and small lakes around this huge mountain are also white and rough.
We will take a side hike for about half an hour off the main trek route to see the stunning turquoise Salkantay Lake from all sides. We will go back to our original trekking route after taking a lot of pictures and exploring the area. It will take us about an hour and a half to walk back to Soraypampa. We'll have a great lunch there before driving back to Cusco (3,400 m / 11,155 ft), where we'll arrive around 5 p.m. After that, we'll take you to your hotel.
