Rainbow Mountain: should you hike or take an ATV?
The classic way to Rainbow Mountain is on foot, but you can now cover much of the approach by ATV quad bike. Both reach the same breathtaking ridge — the question is how you want to get there.
Hiking vs ATV at a glance
| Hiking | ATV | |
|---|---|---|
| Effort | Moderate uphill at altitude | Minimal until the final climb |
| Time | ~1.5 h up | Much faster approach |
| Experience | Immersive, classic | Fun, adventurous, easier on the legs |
| Final stretch | On foot | Short walk to the viewpoint |
Which is right for you
Choose hiking if you want the full experience and the sense of earning the view. Choose the ATV option if you would rather save your legs, add a thrill, or have limited time. Even with an ATV there is a short final walk at very high altitude, so acclimatize first.
