Itinerary

7:30 AM: Pick-up from your hotel in Cusco marks the beginning of your tour. Sacred Valley Exploration: We'll embark on a journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you'll visit the Pisac market and archaeological ruins, and explore Ollantaytambo's market and Inca remains. The tour runs from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Free Time: After the tour, you'll have some free time to wander and discover the charming town of Ollantaytambo at your own pace. Overnight Stay: Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay in a hotel in the picturesque town of Ollantaytambo.

Kick off early with a 7:20 AM train departure from Ollantaytambo (1-hour scenic ride) to KM 104 (2,200 m / 7,217 ft), where the Short Inca Trail officially begins; cross the iconic Willkamayuc Bridge over the Urubamba Sacred River (present original passport/DNI at checkpoint), then hike 15 minutes to the hidden Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy archaeological sites nestled in lush semi-tropical forest bursting with native orchids and waterfalls; ascend 3 hours via Inca terraced steps with jaw-dropping Sacred Valley views to Wiñaywayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft) – the “Forever Young” complex featuring 20+ Inca structures, massive agricultural terraces, and the Rainbow Temple (Temple of Fertility) – explore for 1 hour and refuel with a box lunch; continue 2 hours across Andean flatlands, stone steps, and ancient tambos to Inti Punku Sun Gate (2,720 m / 8,923 ft) for your first breathtaking panoramic reveal of Machu Picchu; descend 30 minutes to the Machu Picchu Citadel (2,490 m / 8,169 ft), then take a 25-minute bus to Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu Pueblo (2,160 m / 7,086 ft) for check-in at a comfortable hotel; unwind at the thermal hot springs (10-min walk, 10 soles), explore vibrant restaurants, bars, and ATMs, and savor a delicious à la carte dinner in a cozy local spot – the perfect finale to your Short Inca Trail experience!

On this day, we will commence our Machu Picchu tour early in the morning. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will head to the station to board the bus for a 30-minute drive to the magnificent Machu Picchu Citadel. Once we arrive, a guided tour will provide insights into the most significant sites within Machu Picchu, including its temples and palaces. After the guided portion, you will have free time to explore the citadel at your own pace. (Optional: You can hike Huayna Picchu for an additional $65 USD per person.) At the appropriate time, we will descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch at one of the many local restaurants. In the afternoon, we will board the train back to Cusco. Please ensure you arrive at the train station 30 minutes prior to departure. Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo, a representative from our company will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco, with a scenic drive taking approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. This concludes our Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 3-day tour.
